School Council

Our school council aims to be the voice of the children about things that matter to them. It is made up of one child from each class; from year one classes through to year six and a further two year six children who represent each of the Reception classes. The council is supported by Mrs N Zaman. Pictures of council members are displayed at the front of the school so that all the children, parents and staff know who they are. Members serve on the council for the whole of the academic year and really enjoy their time on the council.

Some of the initiatives and activities that the School council have been involved in include:

  • Finding ideas and suggestions from the children for our playgrounds
  • Send representatives to the Handsworth YPP (Young Peoples’ Parliament)
  • Environmental projects/forums
  • Being involved in showing prospective parents around our school
  • Being involved in the interview process for new members of staff
  • Visits to other schools
“We meet regularly to talk about issues that other children tell us about and we want to keep our school a safe and happy place.”
